May 20, 2007    Faye comes home

I went to the hospital yesterday and picked up Faye after she had spent over six weeks in the newborn ICU.  It has been fun and hard work to have her here at home.  But I enjoyed the time I got to spend taking care of her last night (despite only getting three hours of sleep).  She weighed 6lbs 1oz when she came home.  Her due date was supposed to be June 11th, so she is coming up on a fun milestone.  I was talking with Kim about it and it seems like once you pass that point it will be easier to think of her as a certain age, but until then it is just waiting for her to hit "40 weeks."  This is probably due in part to the fact that they use her gestational age as a reference always when she is in the hospital.  Anyway, we're glad to have her home and grateful for all those who have cared for her and cared about her in the last six weeks.

Kim is still feeling pretty sick a lot of the time, but is feeling much better than right after her chemo.  She is up for an evaluation after this next round to see if they will start doing radiation.  We are both excited for a possible surgery in the somewhat near future that will allow her to regain the use of her leg.  We feel that we both have so much to be grateful for and are trying our hardest to learn patience during this difficult time.

I will include some pictures of Faye at home with us as soon as I get the chance.
